2 Years, 6 Months

It is hard to believe that it has been two and a half years since Doug had his stroke. Our lives are almost back to normal with a few exceptions. Doug's left side is still partially paralyzed. He hardly has any feeling in his left foot and left hand. In the morning he experiences cramping on most of his left side, but once he gets up and showers, it usually goes away. I know that he is disappointed that his recovery wasn't as complete as he had hoped. Some of the simple daily things we all take for granted can be challenging for him. For example, shutting the car door on the drivers side; going through a drive through at a bank or eating place; unable to buckle his belt; tie a tie; or put on socks; or type on his computer with both hands. Doug has adapted very well and doesn't complain. He is walking really good, but does have a limp. I am so thankful that he is able to drive himself to work and put in a full day. We sometimes ask ourselves "Why"? Why did God allow this to happen? This is my prayer for today.
"God, we have no control over this situation. Our contentment must come from You. You know the desires of our heart, but we surrender to You, asking for Your peace, even if nothing changes. Teach us to be content in any and every situation."
We continue to live "One Day at a Time" . . . . .
