Jury Trial in OKC

This past week, Doug sat in on a jury trial as Co-Counsel in a Civil Case with Ed, another attorney that is a friend. Ed rents an office in our building. The case was "Breach of Agreement - Contract". Ed represented the husband and Doug represented the wife. The wwife's case was "Dismiossed withoug Prejudice" before the trial started. At the trial, Ed did all of the talking; picking the jury, opening statement, questioning the witnessess, and the closing. He verdict for the husband was found in his favor.
The trial started Monday morning and ended Thursday at noon. I sat in on at least half of the trial and was present for the verdict. It was really cool when the jury came back with a unanimous vote. After the case was over, Doug, Ed and his client got to talk to some of the jurors, judge and court reporter. The judge was a woman and was very professional and nice.
Ed got a lot of compliments. He was a little bit nervous because he hasn't had a lot of experience doing a jury trial. This might have been his first one. He is also Iranian and speaks with an accent. He was also concerned his accent might turn some people off. He was very professional, polite and quick to ask all the right questions.
