This was the first year that we didn't see fireworks or even even hear a fire cracker pop. Colorado banned all fireworks through out the entire state because of all the fires going on.
We took a nice scenic drive to a little town called Silverton. I hear that this is the place to be for Independence Day. There is a train that goes there everyday but we chose to drive ourselves instead of spending $83 per person for a ticket.
We ate lunch at an old hotel called Grumpys. Doug and I had a seat by the front entrance and window which gave me a front row seat to a girl that was playing at an old piano. The kids sat at a table of their own. Oh and it was sprinkling the whole afternoon and was a bit chilly but still no fireworks.
