Lasik Eye Surgery for Doug Today

Doug has worn glasses since he was in 4th grade. That's almost 40 years. He has also worn contacts off and on, but lately more glasses because contacts make his eyes tired. For a long time, Doug has been wanting to have Lasik Eye Surgery. So last week, he went to his regular eye doctor to ask questions about it and get his recommendation. He thought Doug would be a good candidate and gave us 2 different places to go to.
First Consultation - On Tuesday, we drove to north OKC to TLC. We were there for 2 hours and they came to a conclusion that Doug's cornea was too thin and sent us on our way. They said he might consider having implants rather than Lasik but it is more expensive.
Second Consultation - Today, we drove to south OKC to Dr. Weir's office. Doug was there for 1 hour and he came to a conclusion that Doug's cornea was thick enough to have Lasik eye surgery and he had an opening at 3:00. He told us that he had the best Eye Laser Machine in the state of Oklahoma and would do enhancements free, if necessary, for life. Sounded good to us so Doug agreed to have the surgery. They allowed me to view the procedure through a large window as well as a TV monitor. I got to see on TV exactly what the doctor saw through his magnifying scope. It was very interesting.
It makes me appreciate my eyesight a little more and how much we take it for granit. They gave Doug a drug to make him drowsy and we are at home now. He is suppose to take a 2-3 hour nap so his eyes can start healing. When he went to sleep, his eyes were blurry. More later....
